A female reader, the cat's pajamas United Kingdom +, writes (25 October 2009):

the cat's pajamas agony auntWell my first bit of advice would be make sure this is what you want!

I've been in this situation myself and returned to an ex, after being with him for literally a few days I realized why we had spilt up.

Sometimes after breaking up with someone you can feel like you need some affection, and normally people revert back to the ex. Instead spend time with your friends and have fun, you never know who you might meet along the way!

The best way to approach this situation is, I know it might sound stupid but, sit down and make a list of why you want him back. Leave it overnight and then come back to it, re-read and evaluate your reasons. If you happy with the justification of your reasons go for it.

If you definitely want him back you are going to have to talk about it, there isn't an easy way to avoid the confrontation. When you talk to him just outline what you want from the relationship - if you can't come to a compromise, he isn't the guy for you.

Hope this helps x
