writes: i have recently made contact with an old close friend. we've known each other for about 12 years. we once became very close to the point when we were lovers but it only lasted a few weeks when we decided to break it off. after that we didn't know what to say to each other and we didn't talk for over 2 years. we kind of made contact but i wanted to keep my distance because she was seeing someone and i had also moved on with a partner of my own. we are both single again and becoming good friends like we were before. she has had a daughter to her last relationship that have become attached to and her father wants nothing to do with her, i have no kids of my own but would love to some day. we talk a lot about our past relationships and our disasterous love lives and joke about it. i get on really well with her family and they know that i would be good for her. the fear of losing her friendship again is stopping me from saying something, i don't know what to do. should i take the risk? i think being friends that long is just a bonus ya know each other that long and ya get on so well just make sure if ya do go out make sure that doesnt change and ya will be fine take the plunge
