I know him because we have some of the same friends, but lately I haven't seen him or heard from him and I can't stop thinking about him. Nothing happened, so I don't know why I feel like this because he doesn't, or else he would have asked one of his friends for my number. I told my friends I'm going to try and forget about him but they say he really likes me and has for ages. But then he treats me like a stranger when I saw him last.Should I try and forget about him?  Why not try and get in touch with him? Can you do that? There is a possibility that he is shy and isn't sure of how you feel for him. There is also the possibility that other things are going on in his life. You need to find out for your own peace of mind so I would suggest that you contact him, say that it would be nice if you spent a bit of time together as you really enjoyed the times you have been together and see what he says.Don't automatically assume that he doesn't want to know simply because he hasn't asked for your number. You need to discover what may be going on in his head and the only way you can do this is by talking with him.Good luck.
