A female United States age 36-40, anonymous writes:

I have a strange question and I hope it's appropriate for here!

Well, I have semi-thick curly/wavy hair. I also have more body hair than most women...though I'm sure my own perception exaggerates it. I get really bad shaving bumps on the backs of my thighs and pubic area and such. (I've tried everything in the book to prevent them...trust me)

However, I noticed that I probably had more hair on my lower back than most other women do. It made me feel really embarrassed mainly because my boyfriend is very touchy feely towards me. He consistently rubs his hands over my legs, stomach and back. (not necessarily in a sexual sense) Thinking maybe he noticed this...I attempted to try to shave it. BIG mistake because now my lower back looks diseased as it is plagued with terrible shaving bumps that make me look like I have an insane case of back acne or something and I don't! Usually, the irritation on my legs go away within 2 days if I leave it alone..but it's been almost four for my back and it still looks god awful.

I have until Tuesday before I'll see my boyfriend again and I want to diminish this problem as much as I can beforehand because I don't want to feel self concious but I also don't want to reveal to him what I tried to do. I don't want my self conciousness to interfere with our intimacy!

How can I reduce this problem before then? Or at least come up with a good enough reason to keep him away from rubbing my back!

tierani417 agony auntHun. I have the same problem! dont be embarassed. Shaving was probably a big mistake, because it can grow back thicker..BUT! If you can't go to a pharmacy or wax it..Try nair. That's what I use. It will be weird at first, but i think it's a lot better than being embarased about it!

Hi .. just go to a pharmacy and im sure they will give you something for it...dont worry .. also an ADVISE is to try and WAX instead of shaving... waxing is more clean and u are less likely to have bumps.. also it takes longer for hair to come out... or maybe on ur back u can try OXYGEN .. thats what i did once..the hair all went blonde and it didnt show..now i wax my pubic area and i feel much better..

Good luck

aphexinfinite agony auntthe bigger reason shaving your back has upset you is its softer skin than your legs. dont be ashamed alot of women with darker hair tend to see it in more places. so in future if you want rid of it ide suggest waxing as that will keep it at bay and hopefully they will come in less..And most peoples problem is they use soap or shower gels for when they shave big no no use shaving cream its designed to be better for the skin, although some people may still get bumps sensitive skin..try some e45 or something like that to get some richness in your skin.. and if its not gone by the time you see your bf just say you tried a new product out and it ddnt agree with your skin but it will pass... hope that helps aphexy gd luck xx
