writes:my boyfriend and i were texting on the phone... my friend nick was sitting next to me and wanted to talk to him so i handed over the phone. they started talking but he wouldnt tell me what the were sayingi took away the phone after an hour and the text i got right when i got the phone said"well it would be cool if her and i were to last but yor right nothing is set in stone and this isn't for ... forever..."I told him I had the phone then and told him I wash I hadn't had see that... he said"well its nothing my opinon its what i'm saying..."then went on to saying..."i like what we have isn't that enough..."i know i might be over reacting but... the moment he said that made me realize that no matter what... he's never gonna put 100% into this and that makes me thing that ... i'm gonna have to do al the work... I cant do that any more...if i am over reacting please tell me... if not...what do i do?

It sounds like he's been saying he thinks you're the one, and his friend has been like "well hang on, you are only 16, let's not plan the wedding just yet."
So he replied saying "yeah, you're right, I'm not planning on marrying her any time soon although it would be nice to have."
He's being real. You don't find life partners at your age. He's simply saying that you will both have to see which way fate takes you.
It's not nice to hear it I know, but he didn't mean it for you to see.
It's a fact of life that bad things happen, people get hit by buses, plagues and famines come and go, and the love you feel at 16 and 17 may not last forever, no matter how much you want it to.

reader, anonymous, writes (28 March 2009): i think you have 2 choices- follow lout_mama's advice (she is good) or dump him for not believing in the two of you and go and find someone who does, rather than waiting for this to crash before you do.

 What he is saying is reality, even though it seems like he is just being the lazy partner in the relationship. He is enjoying you right now, and even though it may get hard sometimes, he will want to work through it because he knows how good, fun and worth it being with you is. Relax a little. Make yourself worth struggling for by being the fun, smart, responsible, loving, spontanious, humorous girlfriend. Guys love those kinds of girls:)
