I regret not making a move on her back then, but should I add her as a friend on Facebook now even though it has been 3 years?

A male United States age 30-35, anonymous writes:

There was a this girl I liked back in high school. She was a really nice and beautiful girl who I hung out with every lunch our of that semester. I don't think there is a girl other than her I've fallen for this hard ever. I was devastated when I found out she was graduating early, and I never saw her again until commencement one semester later. That was 3 years ago.

Recently, I've been having dreams about this girl, for whatever reason, I don't know. It has brought back some feelings I worked hard to get over. I decided to see if she had any networks online, and I discovered she has a facebook. I've been contemplating sending her a friend request, but I'm not sure if it's a good idea to do so. A lot can happen in 3 years...

I know, she is just a major crush I had, but I still regret never making a move back then.

A male reader, anonymous, writes (14 July 2010):

Well, I added her and she accepted. I suppose I'll send her a message. Probably best if I just go with,

"Hi, how are you doing. It's been a while and I've been thinking about you lately. How's life? gives brief explanation how things are going with me yada, yada..."

Hard to say how or where I can take this, but it's good I've taken the first step so far. Any other advice I could need?
