writes:me and this guy i really like were walking and the bell had just rung and we were going to our classroom and there was a charity gig on in the great hall and we look in on the balcony and there was this teacher band and it was a really romantic song playing and we looked at each other and smiled and i was really tempted to grab his hand and i wish i had but im quite shy so i didnt.... he likes me as a friend i think. i mean like i hug him alot and we joke and he always teases me about my ex-boyfriend who i really hate but its his best friend...its along story....but i think it would be really weird if i went out with him. but hes really nice and sweet and ive known him for a while and hes one of my best friends and i dont know what to do?????????????????? HELP

I think you're stuck with waiting. Especially considering the fact that he's friend was your ex. It's tad complicated.
Try to be more flirty though.
Get some physical contact going. Look him in the eyes when you talk and touch his forearm every now and then. That should hint him. Being shy is not a personality trait so don't use it as an excuse. Force yourself to be more open (no pun) and prone to conversation.
