writes:So I have been hanging out with this graduate student from a local university for a few weeks now. She lives right above us and we hang out off and on. The past two nights, we stayed uo late chatted about each other and the same again last night, after she had cooked me dinner. During our conversation last night she had mentioned " her siginifigant other" had visited her a couple months back. It threw me! The more I learn and talk with her, the more I like her. Now I'm not sure what to do. As I left her apartment last night, and we hugged, it was a bit awkward and I know we both knew it. I'm stuck now.... any advice would be fantastic!Thank You.

I say just talk to her about it...
Just ask her "So you know how you have a significant other? Does this mean you are pretty much taken?"
If she says yes, then you know you are just friends and if you start getting serious feelings for her then you'll need to stop hanging out so much and try and get over her.
If she says no, then ask to buy her dinner to pay her back for cooking for you, then see what happens.
If she says it's complicated then stay as a friend but maybe hint that there are better guys out there if her currant one is not making her happy.
