writes: I have extremely low self esteem. I wasn't like this before. I became this way after my relationship with my sons father ended after 3 years. I begged and pleaded, because I couldn't understand why it was over. That was 3 years ago. Since then I've moved on. I've dated a few guys but nothing ever gets anywhere because of me being paranoid, thinking that every guy who meets me is either just interested in sex or just trying to get over on me. Now I'm at the point where I'm sick of the dating scene. I just want someone to call my own. But I need to work on my esteem issues.Any advice is greatly appreciated.

Gina's advice is good. In terms of books I recommend this one, which is written by a very experienced clinical psychologist (rather than being just a feel-good self-help book):
