writes: im a 15 years old and every year for the past three years my family and i have been going to the same hotel every summer and when we first went my family and i made friends with a family from Belguim who go to the same hotel every year. There is a boy the same age as me in this family and this year before i left to go home, he told me he loves me. i love him very much. ive never met anyone like him but he has a girlfriend and i wont see him till next year. what shall i do? i miss and love him very much and please dont tell me im too young to know this because ive had lots of boyfriends in the past and ive never felt like this.

reader, anonymous, writes (25 November 2005): i have been in a similar situation when i was 16 but this was the first time i met this girl. it felt like i had fallen in love with her within 2 weeks we got really close on holiday we used to seperate ourselfs just to be alone together, she had a boyfriend back home and i was single. when we returned home which felt horrible because i missed her so much i just wanted to be with her. she told me she broke up with her boyfriend and we got togather. we used to call and text all the time but after a while maybe 2-3 weeks we both realised that its not going to work because of the distance between us so we broke up and within a few more weeks i forgot about her but we still made the usual phone call and text. it may feel like u have never felt like this before it did for me at the time but being so far apart and knowning we would hardly see each other made us think maybe it wont work. (which it didn't)
i think you would be better as friends.
