writes:i have a bit of a problem im in the middle of my monthly cycle and have been seeing brown discharge. i have been on numerious contraceptive pills in the past because they havent agreed with me and have eventually found the right one and now im seeing this could this be connected or something else.any advice or knowledge of this would be greatly apreciated thankyou.

reader, anonymous, writes (28 November 2006): Hi, I get this brown discharge mid cycle also. I have had it on and off for a number of years. I was referred to the hospital but the gynie just said it was a natural part of my cyle. I am thinking of returning for a second opinion.

reader, anonymous, writes (21 October 2006): If this is occurring in the middle of your cycle 2 weeks prior to your period, you are probably either spotting a little blood which may mean your pill does not have enough estrogen in it for you, or it may be discharge because the closer to your period, your mucous becomes thicker but it is not usually brown, so I am not really sure if that is it...these kinds of gynocological questions are always best discussed with your doctor who prescribes your birth control as they may ask you for more specific information and can be of greater help to you than asking here..

 When bleeding comes to a stop it becomes discolored. It's no longer really red. It may be a sign that your sycle is a little abnormal because of the contraceptives. Good luck
