I have been debating whether or not to ask this question because I think people may find it silly, However, it's a problem I have been having for a while and I thought I might as well ask and see what answers I get. Thank you in advance for your answers. I'm 18 years old, my father is 60 and my mother is 46.I don't want to type up a long and boring story, so getting to the point, I have a huge fear of my parents dying and losing them. I'm not close to any other family members except my parents and I don't really have many friends so throughout my life, my parents are really the only people I have had and been close with. My father has recently turned 60 years old. He has been a heavy cigarette smoker since he was like 20 so that's about 40 years of smoking and a lot of damage to his lungs. He has had some problems with his lungs lately and the fear about something bad happening to him has been overwhelming for me. Thankfully, he is in the process of quitting smoking. Is it normal to have such a big fear of losing my parents? Is there anyway I could deal with this? Can anyone relate to this? It's completely normal and you're at the age where everything is a big deal, as soon as you hit the teenage years every is the end of the world and you're coming to the end of your teen years where your hormones are probably at their highest.
Speak to your parents, explain your fear and why and see what they say.
But at the same time, get out in the world! Make more friends, go to more places, see more things, do more with your life. The more people in your life, the more they will be able to help you control your fear without you ever having to mention it and in the event that something might happen (God forbid), you will have many people that can help you through.
