So, I just found out Batman Live is coming to my town in September 2011, so next year, and my boyfriend loves Batman. I thought I'd buy tickets for him for Christmas but it won't be till 9 months afterwards, and his birthday is in early May so it'll still be 5 months to wait. It just seems an awfully long time to wait for a present. :/ and the tickets are too expensive to buy if he won't be appreciative. We've been together going on 2 years, so I could feasibly just buy them as a random surprise, and get more immediate gifts for the other 2 occasions? I was just looking for opinions really, and how you'd feel about receiving a gift like this from your partner. Thank you.

That being said, why do you think he might not appreciate such a gift? Just because of the wait, is he impatient, or is there any communication issue?
If you think he won't be able to wait nine or five months, then you could just give him something else and then talk to him about buying the tickets together. You're young and probably not a millionaire, so maybe he would understand that and agree to share the costs. You will still have a great time there, so it doesn't matter that much if it's not a gift.
