writes:advice if you were in my situatuion, iv know this guy for 2 years now, we'v always got on really well, and latly we got really close, i fell for him and i like him with all my heart, his parents even used to be friends with my parents when they were young, he's been coming around and we'v got close, and hes even coming on holiday with me, today he told me he liked someone else, im absostly devostated, and been crying with the questions running through my head, what has she got that i havent :( i wish i could have him, or wipe him from my head, but i cant do this, as the flight ticket has been booked, and its non refunable...we have agreed that were still going to be close mates, but it upset me, i just had to tell someone, because its hard to bottle up your feelingsxxxxx

 Hello,
Have you told him how you feel?? Tell him and see what happens. If you know for sure that he doesn't want you, then friends will be difficult as you will have to live through knowing about his girlfriend. He only said he liked someone else from what I see. You may still have a chance!!!!!! H.

reader, anonymous, writes (15 May 2008): I know, I know. You love him, he dosen't love you. I'm in a similar situation at the moment and I know it hurts like hell.
But I'll tell you the two things that keep me going. Things that I tell myself to minimise the pain. "HEARTBREAK IS HELL, BUT YOU CAN'T DIE FROM A BROKEN HEART" and "If you love something, set it free. If it loves you it will come back. If it dosen't it dosen't."
Unfortunately we can't choose who to love, and we can't force anyone to love us back. All we can do be honest in our feelings, be courageous in our actions and live the best lives that we can live. I'm suffering as much as you. But life goes on. Keep smiling, keep active, keep putting one foot in front of another and one day this to will pass away.
