im not sure if it is pregnancy or just ovulation discomfort (is there such a thing?)

my back is really sore, and stomach is extremely bloated, also dizzy and need to pee more often that usual, but not with a lot of urine ,and im having MAJOR mood swings.

i took a pregnancy test. two actually, one looked sort of positive but then i got my period. by "sort of positive" i mean it was primaraly negative. it was a clerblue brand. it was neg when i looked at it but waited about 10 m ins after and it had another nlue line (very light) making it a plus. also since i started this sexual relationship my periods have been really heavy (4 months) til this month.. where it was lighter than usual apart from the first day.

i took another after and it was negative, now im ovulating as of the 14th of this month... but im not sure if its just me in this strange way due to ovulation or pregnancy?

please please help me... im too young to be a mother

I know exactly what your going through. I have been having the same symptoms and I have no clue if i am. I'm supposed to start within two weeks and if I don't then I have to take another test.

I would say maybe you should talk to your parents and maybe go to the doctor.

I am an OB nurse, and it doesn't sound like you are pregnant. Your body's hormones could cause you to feel as if you are pregnant, and give you the bloating and water gain, causing you to feel like you have to urinate more often. As far as the pregnancy test goes, the directions usually tell you to not read the results after 10 minutes. If there is any further question, you should see your doctor and have a blood test done. These are more accurate than the urine tests, which can have false readings if not done correctly. And as far as your note goes on the bottom, that you're too young to be a mother...you're not kidding!! I would suggest you start using some condoms or other types of birth control. I know at your age it's hard to ask your boyfriend to do, but you'll be happier in the long run if you wait! If he cares and respects you enough, he will honor your wishes.

A female reader, skye United Kingdom +, writes (17 August 2007):

skye agony auntUsually, these tests advise us not to read them after 10 minutes or so as the result may not be accurate. Your other test was negative, so that was encouraging. However if your test are not conclusive, then I agree that you should ask for a blood test. Doctors are bound by law not to diaclose your medical history to anyone, so please dont worry about that. You may want to speak with your doctor or practice nurse about birth control methods that would be suitable for you while you are there.

Periods can alter after a sexual relationship has just started, but if you are concerned about them speak with your doctor about this also.

If you are expecting a baby then you both require medical treatment from the start no matter what you decide for your pregnancy. You are a sensible girl, so you know that is true.

You may have tested too early to get an accurate result. This is a common mistake and if you suspect you got pregnant recently and only ovulating around now then the chances you are pregnant are lower. As a general rule, count 19/20 days from the date you last had unprotected sex then take a test. Or wait 28/29 days from the date of your last period. This is roughly when your next cycle is due assuming you have average 28 day cycle.

The discomfort you are feeling could be premenstrual symptoms and are quite similar to pregnancy ones.

Please try not to worry. I know it is easier said than done but you need to think clearly here. Ask yourself when you think you got pregnant and could you have tested too early? If so, take another test at the correct time of this month. However, if you think that you became pregnant during your last menstrual cycle please, please, please see your doctor. These tests are very sensitive, but if you do not get a conclusive result your doctor can. You may want to check out this site: askdramy.com. It has lots of information you could find useful.

Good luck,

Skye

If the over-the-counter tests haven't been clear, you need to go and get a blood test from the doctor or the clinic. You should do it as soon as possible, you may run out of time for a termination if that is something that you would consider. They can't disclose information to anyone but you, so don't worry about them telling others. Good Luck.

Book an apppointment with a medical professional ( your doctor, or if you can't face them, your other options are to go to a family planning clinic or drop in for a private word with a pharmacist in a chemist's). Whoever you feel comfortable with, and have a chat with them. Tell them your concerns and they will help to ascertain whether you are indeed pregnant or not. Don't worry, they talk to girls in your situation all the time and they won't judge you, they will just do your job. (Plus they aren't allowed to tell your parents) If you are pregnant, they will be able to point you in the right direction. All the best x
