A female United Kingdom age 41-50, anonymous writes:

I am in a mess. My family were very harsh to me about my boyfriend as they were against the relationship (I was separated from my husband) and they wanted me to go back and make the marriage work - made my life hell about it. My boyfriend has moved thousands of miles away now and has waited for me for nearly a year. We have been amazing at trying to keep the relationship going despite the distance and I trust him 100% and love him.

He says he cannot wait any longer and I don't blame him. I am so torn as I have lied to family and friends saying that our relationship was over so they would get off my case. but now stand to lose someone I love. I don't feel I deserve him - do I let him go? Move on? I

want to fly out to see him tomorrow but this means pretending I am flying somewhere else and staying with a friend. I am prepared to take this risk but its madness! So much time has elapsed since I saw him that I feel I need to do this to know one way or another. Am I going mad?

This seems so crazy! I cannot make a decision to upset everyone here and yet I cannot let this relationship go. Please help!! I hate all the deceit and that I have felt forced into being like this.

I truly believe that 'family' is important! But this is ridiculous. WHY do you have to answer to them at your age?

Parents will never let go of their children, but at 35 years old, you are able to make decisions for yourself. I would go to this dude that you are ashamed of...with your families knowledge or not. I wouldn't lie to them, but then again.....it's really none of their business. Do you tell them everytime you make love or masturbate?...do you tell them everytime you use the bathroom or come on your monthly cycle? Stop being a big baby and do what pleases you.

TELLULAH agony auntHi,

If the age on your post is correct then why do you have to answer to your family. It really is none of there buisness is it?

If you love this man that much then go and see him, or you will regret it for the rest of your life. At least you can see how you still feel. Dont bother lying to your family, tell them the truth. And if they dont like it then thats tuff. Unless they have a very good reason for you not hooking up with this man, i really cant see how they can stop you.

Dont lie to anyone, it always causes trouble and you will only get found out.

Good luck and I really hope it all works out for you.
