But I don't know what to do cause I'm a really shy and quiet person and I'm really bad at starting up a conversation and I don't what to talk about either. I really like this guy and I feel horrible to make him feel like that.

 He can't see you, he can only read the words you type to him so when you're quiet its probably making him uncomfortable, having an online boyfriend has the downside of the fact you can't just sit there together saying nothing but just being together, you have to talk.
The upside of this is because he can't see you, you can just talk and talk and because he can't see you he can't see when you're getting shy.
Just talk about anything, I'm sure he doesn't mind what it is you talk about just that you're there with him chatting away bouncing conversation back and forth, it can be something as simple as the things you like and enjoy to the things you've done that day.
Try asking him about himself and the things he likes and enjoys, finding out more about him and seeing if the things you like are the same as him and the way you like things are just the way he does etc.

 I know how you feel I was in your situation before except I didn't have an online boyfriend he went to my school anyways yu shuld tell himm your shy and your not mad at him but what culd really help you that helped me is just pretend he's one of your bestfriends and talk to himm as if is one of them
