You have posted before about this, you and her should go to the doctor and speak to a professional about this, that should ease your mind.

It's about time people stopped treating strain one as normal and strain two like some huge stigma . It's essentially the same virus in a different strain!
And for goodness sakes , yours a 40+ yr old man , stop calling your penis or her vagina ' down there '
These kind of backward attitudes are part of the reasons the one in five of us with HSV type 2 are facing ignorance and discrimination
Better than the dr go see someone at a sexual health clinic and get the latest facts on herpes

You should really ask a medical professional these questions.
The treatments for type one and two are exactly the same so there is frequently no need to differentiate.
The virus doesn't show up in the blood (the antibodies to the virus do) so a blood test would be a useless exercise to establish the type of herpes. Confirmation as two which type would have to made by analysing the discharge from the herpes lesions. As I far as I remember from your last post your ex is on suppression therapy rather than active treatment therapy so would probably have had no open lesions to test.
How were you diagnosed with type 1 when you never had a cold sore?
Both types of herpes can occur on the face and/or genitals and generally someone has a level of protection from BOTH virus strains if they have had one type in the past.
It is very uncommon to catch herpes or have a secondary outbreak caught from someone with no open lesions. It IS possible to catch it in the very early stages before the lesions appear but this woman has had the virus and secondary outbreaks for 12 years so she will be able to recognise the early signs and avoid sex at those times.
It's a complex issue though as I suggest you go (back) to the STD clinic or you doctor to ask these questions or find a more suitable online forum.
