How do you tell someone you don't like them anymore?

Question - (26 September 2010) 1 Answers - (Newest, 26 September 2010)
A female United Kingdom age 30-35, anonymous writes:

So, there's this guy.

I admitted to him that I liked him around August, and he said he liked me too.

Thing is, I don't like him like that anymore, and I don't know how to tell him.

I want to tell him face-to-face, because I think I have the confidence to do that and... it'll just be a bit nicer, I guess.

He is really sweet, and nice to me, and all of those things. So I really, really do NOT want to upset him -- or I want to avoid it as much as I possibly can, because obviously he's probably gonna be a bit upset.

(Especially because I've kind of fallen for one of his friends, so yeah, I feel like a bit of an awful person right now).

Thanks :)

FluffyPie agony auntNo matter how you put it - into nice words, a break up is always painful. Just tell him that you're not ready for a relationship.

Maybe he's gonna react OK. If he really loves you, he will understand that you're happy this way. In the inside, he's gonna get over it in time, but in the outside, he might just say "OK, if this is what you want to be happy it's fine with me :)".

Good luck!
