What is the best way to cut contact from an ex?

I am in a very toxic relationship right now and I know that cutting contact is the best thing to do. But how? What if you can't resist yourself but you have to cut contact? I wish it would be that easy just to ignore, your guilt is bothering you. I wish it would be also easy to stop yourself from contacting the other but as long as the phone is there you can't help yourself. You deleted his number so many times, now you can even dial it with eyes closed. You have memorized his number.

What will I do? Should I just change my number to start anew? Any suggestions, any psychological practises to help me stop contacting this person?

I am soo fed up with myself.

get his number blocked at your phone company. if it is Verizon they can block it for however long you want it blocked. and that way he cant contact you and you cant contact him. start off with 90 days. that should give you some time. if you dont think life could go on without talking to him during these 90 days have it taken off. but if your life gets better.. go renew it for even longer this time. that way you dont have to get your number changed.
