How do I summon the courage to go back?

A female United Kingdom age 30-35, anonymous writes:

Dear all,

I would quite like to get myself checked out at a clinic, as although I have not had sex since I was last checked out, I recently got drunk and woke up with a friend of a friend! The only "problem" is my mentality. The last time I went to get checked out it turned out my cheating (now ex) boyfriend had given me something and I feel almost ashamed to be going back and that I may receive bad news again. I know this is a stupid approach to take but I have no idea how to summon the courage to go back! I know this is silly, but I don't seem to be able to help it. :(

I'm sure you wouldn't be the first person they'd seen in your situation. They know better than most that stuff happens. Just think of the peace of mind once you've been there and got your results -- no more worrying or uncertainty.

Good luck!
