How do I stop thinking about her? I can't have her

A male United States age 36-40, *olidus writes:

I've always had a thing for a friend of mine and she recently confessed to having feelings for me too and that she's always thought about us being together. She was drunk when she said this, but I haven't been able to stop thinking about it since. The next day she said she was sorry and it wasn't the right time as she has a long-term boyfriend. They broke up and recently got back together.

They may never break up again and it isn't healthy hoping that they will so we could explore this. So how do I put these feelings that I have for her back in a box?
