She's not an overly affectionate person when sober - but when she's drunk she is very affectionate and more relaxed to her friends, often hugging and holding hands, even kissing my hands recently, and as happens when drinking, often forgets what shes done.Do people really show their true feelings that they are afraid to show when sober when the when drunk? or is it only the alcohol talking? She is straight 100%, I'm not but am NOT attracted to her in any way, shes is a good friend only - who is dealing with some heavy medical issues at the moment.Im not sure if i shoud tell her what she does when shes drunk? maybe not. I know she drinks cos shes stressed - how do i support her?

I think the whole "alcohol brings out the real you" idea is just stupid.
Yes it lowers your inhibitions but it doesn't mean anything, it just means you do things that normally you know are stupid.
I get really cuddly with my mates when I am drunk and it doesn't mean anything, it just means I love them as friends and want to hug them and tell them they are great.
She's probably just really grateful that you are all sticking round and helping her through a rough time. But it'd sound really soppy to get all "I love you guys, you're the best!!!" when sober so she keeps it in and just assumes you all know and she doesn't have to say it 15 times and break your neck with hugs.
Good Luck!! xx
