How do I get the OK for hormone therapy?

A male United States age 30-35, anonymous writes:

I am a male who is able pass as a female when dressed as such. I have always been naturally feminine and have been mistaken as a girl dressed as a guy. Two years ago I decided to go female full time. Since then I had a little facial feminization surgery (nose job, lip enhancement) and breast enhancement surgery. I did see a therapist who did not ok me for HRT (hormones therapy). Her reason for the denial was that I do not consider myself a female trapped in a male body but rather a male who would rather be female. I explained to her that I do live as a female full time, had enhancement surgeries, work as a female secretary, date and am intimate (orally) with men, have no interest in dating females and am seen as and treated as a female by everyone I know or meet. I would like to hear from other M2F people or anyone that could give me some suggestions on what I can do to get the Ok for hormone therapy. Also should I even bother considering I pass so well right now.

So_Very_Confused agony auntif you want the surgery then you do feel female in a male body... and I do think a second opinion with a new therapist may be in order.

Yes. I am up front with men I date and I should have mentioned prior that I do eventually want sex reassignment surgery. I also would like to mention I am of course legally a male that is why I checked off the male box

So_Very_Confused agony auntI would consider finding a different therapist for a second evaluation if you feel the first evaluation was incorrect.

HOWEVER, my understanding is that if you don't feel like a female trapped in a male body but rather as a male that wishes to live as a female then the issue is not truly a transgender issue but one of who and how you associate.

Most transgendered folks I know WANT to have the surgery to complete their transformation. HRT is usually one of the last steps before final surgery.

I have a question for you however, when dating men are you upfront and honest with them that you are a male living as woman?
