reader, anonymous, writes (25 March 2008): If you're very concerned that you're "just a friend" then you probably are. And there's not much getting out of that pit of dispair.
If she says she doesn't feel "that way" about you, then get hurt, get over it, stay "friends" with her, and MOVE ON.
Even if you really can't get over her, her seeing you with other girls is still the best & only way to possibly make her change her mind about you. Either way, the best thing you can do if she doesn't want you romantically is to move on.

It's up to her to return the feelings, not you. She either will or she won't.
You will never trully know until you both sit down and talk about it.
Just don't take it to harshly if you get rejected, this world does not want for women.
