She said how its nice and I made abit of a cheeky comment saying 'if you want to help me to decorate it, you know where I am..' she laughed and that was that.. Anyway, I would like to ask her out for a drink but I don't want it to be embarrassing if its a no, plus we don't particularly know eachother.. I was thinking maybe a note? Any suggestions?? Give it a few weeks or so, try to build up a bit of a rapport first. If you're new to the area, ask if she knows anywhere nice to hang out and ask if she would like to join, something along those lines.
Good luck

If she lives close by it would be awkward if, on going out, you found you had nothing in common. So take it slowly and just try and grow a friendship. If she has a child she may be wary of casual dating.

If you DO ask her out give her plenty of time in advance if she needs to find a bay-sitter.
Instead of the note, I would just ask her next time you see her. SO what if she says no, thanks? At least you asked.

Do you know if she is single or married/dating? If not I would try and figure that out BEFORE asking her out.
Anyone else you know on the street that might know her?
