 I don't think you can ever really tell if a guy is genuinely interested in you or not until you've been seeing him for a while.
Men sometimes don't want to show their friends they're interested in you because they don't want them to know they're pursuing you in case it fails and you turn him down.
If a guy asks you out or makes a move, go with it, just see what happens.
If he's really into you he'll eventually be cool with you around his friends too.
Its a cat and mouse thing.

 Separate him from his friends some times guys feel pressure when it comes to liking girls.
He has to deside whether or not to tell his friends because he might be made fun of,
He also has to deside if he should make the first move.
when a guy is around his friends they gyive very strong apinoins about woman, for ex.a guy might say he like a girl and points her out
His friends might say she is so hot and encourage him to ask her out, or say she is ugly and make fun of him.
He doesn't want to be made fun of so he joins in on be mean to the girl but he can't be to mean cus he still like her.
