While society says womens sex drive does not compare to mens, I have found myself to be the opposite. On that note after many years of searching for "what is the matter" with my boyfriend who also have an erection without excitment (and continue at length without and orgasm) I believe I understand him to be and Highly Sensitive Person (HSP). which means he must approach sex entirely different. Much gentler, a lot slower with long touches that are not intrusive to his "personal comfort". Afterall he is not broken but has a very heightened sense of everything at once. I think sex after the long approach could result in a good partnership. Good luck...i am trying my best too! Its so hard to be patient when you want sex now!

If his answer leaves more questions than he's answered, there may be something more going on.
