How can I help him change his mind?

I have been seeing a guy for almost 6mths, we live about 90 miles apart and hes studying and working full time. The problem is I love him but he wanted to break up, I contacted him after he broke it off and he said he still liked me but the distance and study make things very difficult, any advice how to get him to change his mind,he did say we'd stay in touch
