reader, anonymous, writes (8 October 2008): Bare facts.First love is special. You will always have the memories pleasant and unpleasant ones. When the breakup is new the unpleasant ones linger. As years go by the pleasant ones take dominance. You start thinking that he was the love of your life (while he was probably a jackass to boot) and envision yourself to be Juliet while he's Romeo. Its definitely not fair to the poor bloke you are having sex with to think of your ex. Seems like you are still not over him. Right now it seems as if its the end of the world. No it isn't. Am heartened by the fact that you really want to forget him. Time is the best healer of all. Start by writing down all his minus points. Take his pic,tear it into pieces and flush it down the toilet while imagining that you are flushing him out of your mind. If this helps most of us have gone through heart break and yes love is definitely down the horizon. Keep up the spirits.

 I have bad news for you... You never forget your first love. I am 53, and still I think about mine, whom I met when I was 15. We never had sex, never even kissed. We broke up because his mother said that I was "too good" for him. She wanted him to date more "experienced" girls.
But the good news is... you can move on, and find someone to fall in love with. But haunting memories will always come back from time to time.
