 It sounds like you and your ex do not have a healthy set of boundaries at present, therefore you are confused about where you stand. The only way you'll get rid of the confusion is to openly speak with him about how this is making you feel. This is no different to a friends with benefits situation. You don't have to completely cut ties, just set some healthy boundaries from now on. It'll help make things less conflicting for you.
