A reader, anonymous, writes (1 October 2006):

If you are talking about becoming sexually intimate, this may in fact end your friendship if the romance does not work out....it is hard to remain friends with someone that you once had that intimacy with, because really if it ends it is a failed friendship....it depends on the two people involved if that can be worked through in time, but usually lovers do not remain friends unless they have children together and they need to be friendly for the kids. So ask yourself if it is worth risking your friendship, is this love or attachment?

Toria agony auntIf you were true close friends in the start then aslong as neither one of you do anything real bad to each other and really hurt them there is no reason why you can't be friends after if it goes wrong, you never know it may work out and this won't be an issue.

Good luck :o)
