He could be shy or not wanting to meet your friends if he doesnt know them, maybe he just wants to hang out with you and not you and your friends? try doing something together and then you can bring your/his friends into the equation. Of course that is if you trust being around him without your friends around.

I invite him go places with me and my friends and he says he will go and he always asks to make sure its still happening then the day of he doesn't say anything about it and just doesn't show up. I just don't understand him. He seems interested at work but not outside :(
