A female reader, Tisha-1 United States +, writes (18 August 2008):

Tisha-1 agony auntOldersister gave you great advice. I agree with her 100%. Treat him as if you had just met him and keep your head about you. Sometimes when you see people from high school, you revert back to the old patterns of behavior and thinking. All the insecurities you felt as a teenager show their ugly heads again, despite all the growing up and self-confidence building you've done since then.

If he's jerking you around about getting together, then he's a jerk! Don't take it personally, it's not you, it's him, as Oldersister said. Just because you knew him way back when and liked him then, doesn't mean that he's grown up to be a good guy.

I hope things work out well for you. Take care.
