Question - (1 December 2008) 1 Answers - (Newest, 1 December 2008)
A female United States age 36-40, anonymous writes:

Ive been with my boyfriend for 7 months now. Our relationship has been nothing but a rollar coster of emotions. We just moved into our own place which was probably the first mistake I made.(i think) Well as soon as we got all our things into our new home, right away things changed. It got from bad to worse. To the point were it started to get abusive. I tried to tell myself he didnt mean it we'll get passed it but I completely lost all my respect for him. My attitude towards him become cold. I moved out a few days later. Well now that he realized how serious it is he's been calling me asking me to go back home. Says he loves me and will do anything he can to make things better. He says the abusive incident we had would never happen again, It was a mistake and regrets ever doing that. He's basically saying all the right things to want me to go back. Should I believe his words or are they all lies just to get me back? Both of our names are on the lease and he cant afford to live there on his own. He's expecting me to pay my half as well. Should I also take that into consideration for wanting to make it work or do I just let it go?

A female reader, Emilysanswers United Kingdom +, writes (1 December 2008):

If you want to take the chance he will change then go back. I think you have to follow your gut.

But you have to do it on the condition that if he EVER puts a FOOT out of line then you will leave and never come back even if it means he's homeless.

As for the rent you should definitely pay your way. Everything should be 50:50 so you can walk away with nothing to hold you back.

Good Luck!! xx
