I have considered ultra sound tech, and surgical tech as well and just not sure which path to choose. Can someone give me advise me? I live in Ohio and have been told the DH market is flooded with no jobs. I just am not sure what to do. I thought maybe someone on here would have some helpful advice. Thanks !! As the population gets older and the baby boomers become 10 fold dental care will always be needed.
What about staffing agency's do they have dental hygienist temps?
I would imagine there would be. Nurses have em. Why not dental hygienist ? I would love to switch over from nursing. Nursing is awful.

Are you really considering to change your focus based upon "...due to negative feed back people have been telling me."??????? If people told you to jump from a tall building, would you do that, too??? (Sorry, couldn't resist this old cliche that my parents used to use on me!!!!!).
Go on a search engine - most any one of them - and look up "jobs" and "Dental Hygiene".... and if the proliferation of them, there (jobs) doesn't encourage you... then nothing will.....
Good luck...

Continue dentistry! Any of those fields are good to go, but go with the one that you feel the most passion in.
Trust me - as long as people have teeth, your job will never be unnecessary.

I think you should talk to your Campus Career Counselor and not just listen to what people (who may or may NOT know the market that well). Why not FINISH the Dental Hygienist and see where it takes you?
though if you want to stay in Dental being a surgical tech will only add on to the DH, I would presume (not familiar with the American version of DH)
Go talk to the counselor.
