Question - (4 July 2009) 1 Answers - (Newest, 5 July 2009)
A female United States age 30-35, *lii gator writes:

i'm currently crushing on my older brother's best friend, who also likes me. my big brother is completley ok with it the only problem is my step father. he is also friends with my crush. as far as my step parent knows my crush and i are merely friends but i know he suspects more and he's pretty much intimidated my crush into leaving me alone. how can i make him see that he should be happy for me instead of trying to lock me in an ivory tower?

well `cinderella` (lol) i think you just need to talk to your stepfather and say to him that you are old enough to make your own decisions and you have decided to pursue seeing this boy.i would make sure the boy actually wants to date you first so you dont end up looking silly.even then it might just come up with another different boy anyway.sure your stepfather may feel uncomfortable about being friends with someone his step daugher is dating and all fathers and step fathers are weird about their daughters growing up and dating boys cos theyre afraid they`ll get hurt.just talk to him.
