A female United States age 30-35, *erenadeStarsRocks writes:

Well...

This is kinda a big deal to me...and i feel awfully guilty.

Anyway my parents are deciding to move to another town than the one im living in now...When I first moved to B. I hated it. I loath it. Then I reached High School and I begin to love it. I love all my current teachers (except a few of course lol) and all of my friends. I love my current school life.

then the problem settle in. My parents wanted to move to M. My old town. and I feel a huge tug on my heart. My best friend for over 8 years is excited for me to come back. My heart tugged once more. I really dont want to leave.....but my loyalty to my best friend is worth alot more than B. My bff wanted me to come back...We didnt see each other for two years but we keep in contact over phones and emails.

My parents are pressuring me. They all think they know my true feelings, but they dont. I lied to them, I lied that i will love to go back, but within my heart I will not love to go back. My heart will break. I'm attached...i cant tell them how i truely felt. I cant tell anyone on how i truely felt. I really wanted to see my bff but in doing so...I will torn my own heart...

and now I don't know what to do...

It hurts me on keep on pulling away from B. Turning my back...Turning my back on the memories I had there....but it will be mere memories when i graduate and get out anyway...why not break my heart sooner and get it over rid?

Anyway my question is, what should I do?

A reader, anonymous, writes (21 April 2010):

Be calm and honest with your parents. But whatever the decision that is made, remember that one day you will leave High School, then you will move onto college or a job, as will your friends. It is rare that your High School friends will stay friends for life. You may stay acquaintances, but life gets in the way. This is just a short period of time in your life. Your life will be full of beginnings and endings, opportunities, and closed doors. This is just one small step, no matter how big it may seem at the moment. Remember, everything happens for a reason :V)
