That is life. Your b/f has replaced your guy friend and he must withdraw . You have chosen your b/f over him.
Your guy friend will slowly fade from your scene .He will understand your decision and he will focus his attention on somebody else.
People come and go in our life. Some will leave footprints in our heart.

Your male friend is probably backing off, because he is worried what your boyfriend might do if he gets too close. We all have an inbuilt warning system, especially when it comes to other peoples BF/GF. If we respect a friend and their relationship, then you dont try and take over, or appear a threat to another man - women are just as bad, we dont like other girls, even "just friends" sniffing round our boys.
For example, how would you feel, if your boyfriend was constantly talking to another woman, other than you? Would you get even a teeny weeny bit jealous, or would you be totally ok with it? It seems easy on paper, but in reality it can get very messy.
Another option could be that your guy friend has romantic feelings for you, but you got snapped up before he had the courage to ask you out himself, and it is too difficult to see you and your boyfriend together.
I think you need to talk to your friend and ask him why he is suddenly distant.
