writes:I started dating a guy about a month before everyone went away home from university for Christmas. Before he went we were lying in bed and I asked him if he was looking forward to go home and seeing his family, and he said he didn't know because his ex girlfriend lives in the same village and would probably be there too. He said that whilst they were together, they had mutual friends and he was worried about who would and wouldnt be talking to him anymore and that people would take sides. We both went away home and kept in touch with eachother - txting every day etc, phoning in the evenings. The other day I sent him a message and he didnt reply. I tried to phone him in the morning to say I was missing him but got voicemail, so left a text message instead. Still no reply. Was getting worried because he'd gone from sending me about 5 txts a day to complete silence so I sent him a message asking if everything was ok? He replied and said he didn't know and that things were complicated at home and that he'd talk to me later. In my head I keep telling myself this is just to do with the situation with the friends and ex but the paranoid woman side of me is worried something might have happened with the ex. Can someone give me some advice here?

reader, anonymous, writes (21 December 2008): U wont know for sure unless he tells you or worse u hear it from someone else. But i think its a guy thing they have problems they shut down and dont want to talk
