A female United States age 41-50, anonymous writes:

I am very in love with my ex-bf. Six months ago he broke up with me because he wasn't sure it was really love and wanted to remain friends. After two months of our break out he started to be an asshole to me. Three months after, we had no more contact at all, due to his part.

We have a friend in common who I consider my best friend, but he is such a joker, its hard to know when he lies and when he doesn't. Well, my friend had been telling me that my ex wants to get back together again and that my ex loves me. I didn't believe him at first, but after a few days I gave in.

I asked my friend if he thought my ex would be fine if I started to talk to him again, and he said to go ahead. I did, I sent him a congratulations on his new relationship message trying to break the ice (in reality he doesn't have a relationship). Then my ex responded, after 3 months of ignoring my previous messages. He said that he doesn't have a gf and that he isn't interested in anyone, etc. He also said that it was hard for him to tell me that he was happy that i messaged him. He also apologized for being an asshole.

Yesterday, I sent him a message, again just to say hi. We had a small chat about nothing really and he asked me to start texting his phone whenever he isn't online. And he gave me his number, I didn't have his number before because he didn't have a phone. I asked him that I would only text his cell phone if he did the same with me, and right after he sent my cell phone a message. I didn't give him my number.. so I guess he kept it in his phone book all that time.

Now, what I want to know.. or at least what you guys think about this. I love this guy, I want him back... but I don't know if he loves me, he hasn't said anything about it yet, and i really don't want to touch the subject because I am afraid he will get scared. Do you think he loves me and wants to get together? or why did he start talking to me once again.

p.s he hasn't date anyone after we broke up or seein anyone.

meriem1421 agony auntwell.i think cause he wants 2 fix things with u,it means he cares about u n about what's going on between both of u.

he apologized n when boys mean their apolojy it means they really care but i won't say that he's so in love with u cause i don't wanna give u a wrong hope incase he just wants u 2 be his friend again.but u can know how much he cares or if he loves u by hanging out with him as friends n when u talk try 2 get the truth from him indirectly.

good luck n let me know how it goes!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I think you should ease back into this slowly. He seems a little skittish and scares easily. It's very possible that the time apart did some good, and he missed you and has been thinking of you. I wouldnt start right off the bat with the 'I love you" part. I would also suggest maybe meeting up with him for lunch or some drinks. You will be able to better gauge his feelings for you in person.
