Someone in my family had debt problems and there is a charity that can help. Go to google and search Payplan. They don't charge fees and basically contact all the companies that are owed and tell them to no longer contact you for money, to only contact the staff at Payplan. They also ask you how much you can afford each month and then they divide that between the companies who are owed.
If the places you are in debt with try to hassle you by sending letters or calling you then you forward the letters to Payplan and inform them of any calls. They deal with all the hassle.
There are lots of companies like this that take your money and keep some for themselves, but I know Payplan do not do this. There may be certain requirements but they will speak to you about your individual circumstances and let you know if they can help.
Best wishes to you, and your family x
