My dad did Taekwondo for severeal years & achieved several belts & recently he has been taking part in Judo & says that both martial arts have helped him. He said that having previous knowledge of martial arts was a good thing too as he knew what to expect, ie, physical endurance etc :)

reader, anonymous, writes (15 July 2008): i think it be fine! i use to do muay thai boxing for 4 years and i also did karate too for about 2 years. my father was a champ in thailand and he taught me to do boxing. but he also had me train in karate because he wanted me to learn the difference. i find boxing as a healthy way to relieve stress. and karate a kind of learning of strength by using my mind and body. it's hard for me to explain...but i don't think it's fine
