Could it be that he wants to forget about me because he's going to stay with the girlfriend after all?

Question - (14 December 2007) 4 Answers - (Newest, 14 December 2007)
A female United States age 41-50, anonymous writes:

I worked with a guy for 4 years and the entire time I had a major crush on him. I am married but not happily. And he (guy at work) lives with his girlfriend. Anyway, a few months ago he got a new job and I went out to buy him a few drinks to say goodbye. While out, he told me that his relationship is not good with the girlfriend and that they were headed for a breakup. Now that he has this new job (and huge raise) he didn't need to live with her anymore, and it was a matter of time before they split. I told him that my own marriage was separating (I've since has separated and moved out)

We had sex that night and it was amazing. He told me he had wanted that as long as he's known me. And then we met for drinks again a few weeks later, and then a few weeks after that and had sex again. We both promised to NEVER tell anyone, and that we could perhaps meet again for "drinks".

I haven't heard from him in a few weeks and am startig to wonder if he feels guilty and/or wants to end our little fling. He hasn't emailed or called and that's not like him. He swore that he wasn't going to ask his girlfriend to marry him and that they were going to break up. I know he knows I have moved into my own place and that my marriage is separated, so why hasn't he called me? Could it be that he is a jerk and is blowing me off? Could it be that he wants to forget about me because he's going to stay with the girlfriend after all? Yuck...

rockelle agony auntI think that this guy is blowing you off. It was ok when you had a husband and had to sneak around. Maybe he thinks you are going to try and pressure him into leaving his girlfriend and he really had no intentions to do that. There could be a million reasons and i could be wrong but after a few weeks I would get over it and move on. Now is the time for you to get things back in order with your life and forget about him , he is no good anyhow.

Certainly it could have nothing to do with the girlfriend and perhaps its just simply that he didn't feel like he hit it off with you. BUT since he made you promise "never" to tell anyone, its very possible that he was lying about what was going on with his girlfriend.

In any case, whether he lied or not, I think the point is that he just isn't all that interested in you. So just let it go. And if you are not just looking for casual sex, then next time, make sure you really know a guy and know how he feels about you before you jump into bed with him.

maggie1987 agony auntwell at least u seperated before jumping into bed with him. well my suspicions would be that maybe hes a player like most men just out for what he can get , the best advice i can give is to forget about him hes obviously not that interested, if it was me then id try find out if he did split with his girlfreind before he slept with you , and if he did not split with her then id threaten him that your going to tell her all about you and him and see what he says make him beg for forgiveness for not calling you or being more honest with you then tell him exactly what he is a sad pathetic man , maybe he will think twice in future when he tries to do the same with another woman.
