Could I get pregnant from "pre-cum" or is it just the pill?

A female United States age 30-35, anonymous writes:

I was recently starting birth control and stayed on it for about 2 1/2 weeks and then stopped because I couldn't take the side effects of the pill. Now, when I first started taking the pill, on the 4th day of taking the pill, I had unprotected sex with my boyfriend but he didn't go all the way (stopped and put on a condome) and I'm not sure if there was precum left inside of me. I wasn't aware that the birth control pill takes weeks or months to be affective so I am now really scared. Because of the birth control pill I feel like I might be pregnant but there is still 7 more days till my period and I am getting frustrated because I have spotting and light bleeding! I took a preg. test 2 times and it came out negative. But then again there are still more days till my period and I feel so bloated. What's your opinion. Is it just me going crazy thinking that I could be pregnant, or the pill just messed my body symptoms up, or am I really pregnant??? Could precum make me pregnant? help...

I mean the chances of getting pregnant from pre-cum are low, but if you are not married and aren't planning a pregnancy, why play russian roulette? Wear a condom....also more concerning is that pre-cum contains the stuff to transmit HIV and STD's, this is more likely to happen from this fluid than pregnancy, so use a condom.

Pre ejaculatory fluid does contain sperm and you need to put on a condom when the guy first gets aroused to avoid contact with this fluid.....don't know where you did your research but what you state here is not true, he doesn't have to ejaculate before having sex for the fluid to contain sperm, never heard that one before, and I am ollldddd.

this is from the person who posted this question. I did research and they say that pre-fluid that comes out in the beginning does not contain sperm... BUT if he ejaculated before haveing sex again, them it may contain spearm. A lot of sites said this so I don't know what to believe. Just putting it out there for more discussion.

Thanks again. I'm sure I might be fine because I am experiencing light blood flow. Hopefully I'm ok... and I know I will not make the same mistake again!

I don't know where Mattman gets his statistics, he sounds like a guy who likes to tell a girl to just "Relaaaaax" I will only put the tip in.....lol.

You are playing with fire here. You can absolutely get pregnant with pre-ejaculate near your vagina, sperm swim, they can live in your body for three days waiting on an unfertilized egg to be ready for them to impregnate, statistics have very little to do with it.

Not using the pill as prescribed will make you at even greater risk of getting pregnant because when you stop and start like that your body can start ovulation.....

Since you took a pregnancy test and it came back negative, then I would take a second one a week after the first one, and then if it is negative you are most likely not at all pregnant.

If the side effects of the pill are not pleasant to you, then get back to the doctor, tell him what is going on, and he will prescribe a different pill for you, that is why there are so many pills, not every pill will work for you or for all women....but there is one out there that will be just fine for you.

mattman agony aunt First of all RELAX!! spotting and period are so very similar they are Often confused. You need to keep in mind that the chance of pregnancy with INTERNALL ejaculation is only 20%. The chance of unprotected pregnancy without contraceptive and externall ejaculation is about 1%. So just take it easy and let time tell all.
