Can anyone shed light on the Jekyll and Hyde syndrome that some men (as I am a woman, otherwise I am sure women do this too) suffer? It has been destroying my relationship. I am ready to walk out the door when he's verbally abusive (worst I have ever felt) but I get sucked back in when he makes me feel better than I ever have (emotionally).

A reader, anonymous, writes (29 December 2008):

This guy is a Jekyll and Hyde but not all men are - you need to walk out and start seeing a counsellor. He will not change so unless you want to have this same problem 1 year, 5 years, 10 years, the rest of your life, make a change. The first step is to get help. Good luck.
