Can you tell me if it is indicated to publish firstly in the Internet, as I am afraid this space provides little safety and ideas can be... copied, right. What about the processes of copyright, and what makes one entitled to sue upon having his 'virtual' ideas clandestinely published on other sites than the initial?? Actually, my question IS(it is!) related to... relationships, as the material I seek to publish is dedicated to my partner. What would you think of this gesture, also? Thank you for reading. xxxxxx

But you must have the document postmarked and dated by the post office. That's all. That is something you could look into and find out more about. And litigation is a bitch. That is something you want to avoid at ALL costs. Unless it is a HUGE settlement such as medical malpractice or injury, most lawyers do not want to and will not deal with small claims and claims that don't have substantial evidence. They are just going to tell you to resolve it amicably. I'm telling you... What you need to do is take the proper steps to avoid having your ideas stolen. In that case talk to a lawyer or make friends with other published authors and find out from them.As for having your literature published, most "published" authors go through a publishing house. But getting published is hard. Like anything in life you need connections. Your best bet is to build up your resume and start working for a local newspaper or weekly and put your work out there. Local free papers are always looking for writers who want to expose their work. They are NOT going to pay you but it is a great way to learn the ropes in the biz and to gain experience. And an organized company like that is going to provide you all the tools and protection you need to keep your work your own. Just about every writer in the world has worked at a newspaper. If it makes you feel any better I have had a couple of friends who have started out that way and been published in free periodicals, so far. That's how you start. And that's how you learn the ropes and meet the right people to ask questions to. Good luck.
