writes: Can a minor bike riding accident cause the hymen to tear? I had a bicycle riding accident when I was younger. I was still learning how to ride it and hadn't gotten used to breaking and getting down smoothly. I hit myself down there on the cycle bars as I got down pretty hard. I found clots of blood when I looked at it hours later. This happened twice in one week (Stupid, I know but hey I was around 10)So my question being, was the blood that I found a result of my hymen tearing? I've been super confused about that for a while and I'd like some clarity!

Yes, it is possible. However, it doesn't change that fact that you are a virgin til you have actual penetrative sex.

Yes. There are many common/typical/routine activities which a young woman might engage in and, thereby, tear her hymen.... Sports - especially horseback riding and gymnastics - are well-known for this....
If you don't have complications (such as continued hemorraging) then you can probably chalk this up as a "not very important" happening in your life....
The good side: It may keep you from experiencing a painful "deflowering" at the hands of some inept goon-"boyfriend"!!!!!

It's common for things like that to cause your hymen to tear. Things like this also happen to some girls doing gymnastics and such.

Yes, it sounds like the accident caused your hymen to tear. Your hymen is a thin membrane, that sort of impact could have torn it.
Now are you trying to determine whether you have your hymen or not? You can do a quick check if your unsure- you can take a regular sized tampon and insert it into your vaginal canal. If it's still there, it's probably going to interfere with inserting the tampon, otherwise, if it's not there, you should be able to place the tampon easily. Nothing should be getting in its way.
