Can a man "secretly" love someone if he's involved with someone else?

Is it possible for a man to "secretly" love a woman if he is involved with someone else? I don't think it's possible - in fact, I don't think a man would waste his time with one woman if his real heart's desire were available. But if his real love weren't around, would he still want to get physical with someone he considers a friend? Can he do so in good conscience?
