Try a product called Femdophilus. It's a probiotic that regulates the balance of bacteria in your vagina and often helps reduce BV to little or nothing.

If you are taking "pills" for this condition, I'm assuming the pills are antibiotics, which are the only pills that get rid of this vaginal infection. But if your sexual partner is not taking the pills also then he is re-infecting you everytime you have sex, and that's probably why the darn thing keeps coming back. You both have to be treated and you both have to finish the complete dosage of anitibiotics even if the symptoms clear up after a day or two because if you stop them before the full cycle of pills, then your infection will become resistant to all antibiotics and you'll be stuck with it. I hope this helps you out.

How can we protect against it? Avoid activities which could lead to the introduction of the bacteria to the vagina (unprotected vaginal or anal intercourse, unprotected manual sex, vaginal intercourse wearing a condom that was also used for anal intercourse - read how to use a condom) and practice proper hygiene (wipe from front to back after urinating or bowel movements, do not douche). Limit your number of sexual partners.
